Empowering Youth Through Skills Development
As part of its ongoing commitment to youth development, skills enhancement, and employment readiness, Knysna Municipality, in partnership with the Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (CHIETA), is offering a three-year Electrical Apprenticeship Programme. The initiative is aimed at preparing unemployed youth in the Knysna area to become qualified electricians through a combination of accredited training and practical, on-the-job experience.
Minimum Entry Requirements:
To be considered for this apprenticeship opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Educational qualification: NQF Level 1 to 4 (Grade 9 to 12) with Mathematics and Science

South African citizenship is mandatory

Must be a permanent resident within the jurisdiction of Knysna Municipality

Age between 18 and 35 years
-
No prior apprenticeship certification in the same field

Preference will be given to individuals from previously disadvantaged backgrounds in line with employment equity policies
What the Programme Offers:

Formal theoretical training delivered by an accredited training provider

Practical on-site experience under the guidance and supervision of the Knysna Municipality’s Electrical Department

Opportunity to qualify as a certified electrician at the end of the apprenticeship

Hands-on exposure to municipal electrical infrastructure projects
