We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to support the cross-functional maintenance and repair of electrical, diesel, and mechanical equipment, vehicles, and mining machinery. The goal of this role is to ensure maximum equipment availability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and engineering standards in a high-performance mining environment.
Job Description:
1. Financial Perspective:

Identify and recommend cost-saving measures during repair and maintenance operations.

Proactively escalate operational and financial risks to supervisors.

Follow engineering and mine SOPs to avoid losses, damages, and unplanned downtime.
2. Internal Business Processes:

Assist in executing maintenance plans and shutdown schedules aligned with business objectives.

Perform basic repairs and maintenance on equipment to meet cost, quality, and safety standards.

Adhere strictly to mining procedures and supervisor instructions to ensure compliance.

Minimum Requirements:

Matric / Grade 12

Valid driver’s license

Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical, diesel, or mechanical maintenance within a mining or heavy industrial environment
Preferred Skills and Attributes:

Strong understanding of mining equipment and machinery

Basic mechanical, electrical, and/or diesel engine troubleshooting skills

Safety-conscious mindset with knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
