Sovereign, a leading national supplier of high-quality chicken products with operations across five provinces, is recruiting for a qualified and experienced Maintenance Electrician to join its Commercial division. Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring minimal equipment downtime, executing preventive maintenance, and supporting operational efficiency in a fast-paced FMCG environment. This is a shift-based role, requiring the ability to work flexible hours and respond to equipment breakdowns quickly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve less than 3% equipment downtime to support production throughput targets

  • Execute preventive maintenance as per manufacturers’ schedules

  • Accurately complete and close out job cards and maintenance records

  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to maintenance operations

  • Ensure zero reworks, 100% attendance, and proper job planning

  • Conduct effective shift handovers to maintain seamless operations

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) applicable to the food processing environment

  • Maintain 100% compliance with Health & Safety permit systems

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualified Electrician (relevant trade certification)

  • 2–3 years’ experience in a FMCG factory environment

  • Own basic hand tools and reliable transport

  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts

Added Advantages

  • 3-phase Wireman’s License

  • Hands-on experience with Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

  • Experience working in a poultry or food processing environment

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and technical troubleshooting skills

  • Knowledge of poultry processing equipment and systems

  • Excellent interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills

  • Ability to remain flexible and adaptable during equipment breakdowns and off-hour demands

  • Strong focus on health, safety, and food safety compliance
