Minimum Requirements For The Scania Diesel Technician Job Opportunity

Matric Certificate or N3 in Engineering or equivalent

Qualified Diesel Technician with a valid Trade Test Certificate

Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair (strictly non-negotiable)

Proven experience in a workshop environment, especially with Scania or other heavy-duty trucks
Core Competencies (to be tested during interviews):

Technical expertise in diesel engine repair, diagnostics, and fault finding

Strong understanding of products and services within the commercial vehicle sector

Familiarity with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards

Proficiency in information technology used in vehicle diagnostics

Strong customer focus, teamwork, and communication skills
Professional Responsibilities:
Before Maintenance or Repair:

Gather all relevant information, tools, and spare parts

Plan tasks to reduce downtime and ensure job readiness
During Maintenance or Repair:

Execute repairs using Scania’s defined work processes, standards, and methods

Ensure timely and safe repairs are performed to Scania’s quality standards
After Maintenance or Repair:

Complete accurate job cards and service records

Communicate required follow-up tasks for handover or future maintenance

Ensure swift and detailed documentation to support prompt invoicing
