Job Overview

As an Apprentice Diesel Mechanic, you will undergo a structured learnership programme that combines technical training and real-world maintenance experience in a busy commercial vehicle workshop environment. Under close supervision, you’ll assist with the routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of commercial vehicles in line with Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities For The Daimler Truck Apprenticeship Opportunity 2026 Intake

Vehicle Maintenance Support

• Perform maintenance and repair tasks as assigned on job cards.

• Ensure all work meets MBSA flat rate repair time and quality standards.

• Seek supervisor input when encountering unfamiliar faults or repair challenges.

• Use all workshop tools and equipment correctly and safely.

Customer Service & Workshop Compliance

• Handle customer vehicles and property with the highest care and professionalism.

• Communicate proactively with the Service Advisor or Foreman about job status, issues, or delays.

• Maintain cleanliness and quality standards (e.g., use seat covers, replace parts correctly).

• Present replaced parts for customer inspection as required.

• Adhere to all company SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) policies and legal compliance measures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Matric / Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science

• N2 Diesel Mechanic or N2 Electrical Engineering

• Computer literacy (MS Office and related platforms)
