Role Overview

As a Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and basic repair of tracking systems, cameras, and two-way radios in various types of vehicles. You’ll work directly with both internal teams and clients, ensuring professional service delivery and high-quality technical work that aligns with company standards and client expectations.


Key Responsibilities For The Netstar Installation Technician Job Opportunity

  • Install vehicle tracking systems, dashboard cameras, and two-way radios accurately and efficiently.

  • Perform basic repairs on tracking units and diagnose auto-electrical faults.

  • Conduct current draw tests, identify electrical issues, and implement appropriate solutions.

  • Use Mobitech or similar digital tools to manage job cards and maintain accurate records.

  • Ensure all installations meet Netstar quality standards and comply with internal procedures.

  • Maintain and safeguard company equipment including tools, vehicles, laptops, and stock.

  • Complete daily admin, including job status updates and stock reporting.

  • Perform monthly stock takes and keep inventory in good order.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12) or NQF Level 4 in Electrical or Auto Electrical Engineering

  • 2–3 years’ experience in the fleet management or vehicle tracking industry

  • Strong auto-electrical background with technical problem-solving capabilities

  • Valid driver’s license (essential)

  • Computer literate, especially with Microsoft Office and mobile apps

  • Experience with Fleet Management Systems, Trunked Radio Systems, and Netstar products (advantageous)


Additional Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for both internal and external client interactions

  • Clear criminal record (mandatory)

  • Proven customer service record and punctuality

  • Adherence to company policies and high attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
