Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and qualified Electrical Maintenance Technician with a strong background in heavy current electrical systems. The role is crucial in supporting production through advanced fault-finding, problem-solving, and ensuring optimal equipment reliability. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering key performance indicators (KPIs) related to asset care, downtime reduction, and statutory compliance under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act).
Minimum Qualifications

Matric / Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science

Diploma or BTech in Electrical Engineering – Heavy Current

N6/N4 in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)

Red Seal Trade Test – Artisan (Electrical)
-
Certified Reliability Maintenance Professional (CRMP) – Preferred

Additional Diploma in Engineering disciplines (advantageous)
Experience Requirements
-
5–10 years’ experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing maintenance environment

Proven track record in asset care, equipment reliability, and plant maintenance

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities
-
Experience with planned maintenance systems, reliability-centred maintenance (RCM), and root cause analysis (RCA)
Key Responsibilities
-
Ensure full statutory compliance with the OHS Act and internal safety policies

Conduct thorough fault analysis and root cause investigations on electrical breakdowns

Maintain and improve equipment reliability KPIs
-
Execute and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance plans
-
Collaborate with engineering, production, and SHEQ teams to ensure equipment is safe and operational
-
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and equipment upgrades

Assist in the training and mentoring of junior technicians and artisans

Maintain detailed records of all repairs, faults, and upgrades on the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
