Overview
The primary duties of a Diesel Mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components
Qualifications
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Code 10 Driver’s licence
• Trade Tested certificate (Red Seal) Qualification / Professional Membership
• Proven working experience in an Explosives environment.
Experience
• 3 year’s demonstrated experience as a Diesel Mechanic (Truck and LDV).
• 3 years demonstrated knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Duties
Productivity output o Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles o Ensure correct measurement of products are used to avoid production waste • Inventory handling o Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist o Maintaining a parts inventory. • Mechanical ability o Running diagnostic tests on vehicles. o Analyzing diagnostic test results. o Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems. o Checking vehicle lighting systems o Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks • Adherence to sound SHERQ principles
