Job Purpose

We are looking for a skilled and qualified Auto Electrician to maintain mobile equipment, heavy machinery, and cranes to maximize equipment availability, safety, and production output. This role is integral to keeping our fleet functional, safe, and efficient in line with our operating and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities For The Anglo American Artisan Electrician Vacancy 

 Equipment Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Conduct diagnostic testing, inspections, and maintenance of light vehicles, mobile cranes, and heavy equipment.

  • Perform fault finding, repairs, and preventive maintenance on electrical components to ensure functionality and safety.

  • Carry out scheduled inspections and identify equipment failures.

  • Complete and return detailed job cards on time.

  • Ensure high availability of HME (Heavy Mobile Equipment) through effective planning and response.

  • Maintain toolboxes and tools in optimal working condition.

 Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure that work is completed in line with Operating Model standards.

  • Provide effective communication and shift handovers.

  • Ensure high productivity while adhering to quality and cost parameters.

 Safety & Compliance:

  • Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental policies.

  • Participate in SLAMs, risk assessments, and ensure the closure of safety actions.

  • Supervise learners where required and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

  • Follow correct lock-out/tag-out procedures during maintenance work.


Minimum Requirements

 Education & Certifications:

  • Grade 12 / N3 Technical Certificate

  • Red Seal Trade Certificate – Auto Electrician

  • Valid Code B Driver’s License

 Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience as an Auto Electrician in a mining or heavy industry environment.

  • Proven ability to perform high and low voltage fault finding.

  • Experience with PLC systems, Profibus, S7 PLC programming, and optic fibre communication.

 Skills & Knowledge:

  • Understanding of H1 communication systems and 11kV high-voltage networks.

  • Familiarity with company safety policies and mining regulations.

  • Commitment to safe work practices and preventive maintenance.
