 Key Responsibilities For The Rand Water Artisan Jobs 2025

As a Mechanical Artisan, you will:

• Perform daily maintenance on mechanical plant and equipment

• Conduct scheduled inspections and checks to ensure continuous plant availability

• Overhaul pumps, motors, valves, and other rotating equipment

• Operate machinery such as grinders and cutting tools

• Conduct flame cutting and welding operations

• Assist with rigging and installation of mechanical equipment

• Identify and resolve mechanical failures proactively

• Support the engineering team with emergency breakdowns and fault analysis

 Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or N3 Mechanical Engineering Certificate

• Valid Trade Test Certificate in a mechanical field (e.g. Fitter, Millwright)

• Minimum of 4 years post-apprenticeship experience in a mechanical maintenance role

• Valid Code 8 driver’s license

• Ability to pass Rand Water’s internal K53 driving assessment

 Required Knowledge & Skills

Technical Knowledge:

• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act)

• Proficiency in basic welding and flame cutting

• Familiarity with the operation and repair of pumps, gearboxes, compressors, motors, etc.

• Knowledge of rigging practices and heavy machinery handling
