AFGRI Animal Feeds is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to work alongside qualified artisans in maintaining factory machinery and equipment. This role is ideal for individuals who want to grow within a technical and production maintenance environment.

 Job Description

The Maintenance Assistant will support artisans in carrying out routine and emergency maintenance on a wide range of feed factory equipment. The role involves hands-on mechanical work, electrical support, and ensuring machine availability to meet production goals.

 Minimum Requirements For The 2 Artisan Assistant Positions for at AFGRI

•  Grade 12 / Matric Certificate

•  Minimum 1 year of practical maintenance experience in a feed mill or manufacturing environment

 Key Responsibilities

• Assist with mechanical and electrical maintenance of equipment and provide feedback on repair needs

• Ensure machinery is clean, functional, and available for production

• Follow scheduled maintenance plans and work overtime as required

• Keep the workshop area clean and maintain proper tool storage

• Identify, monitor, and report potential food safety risks

• Comply with health and safety policies, including PPE usage and reporting unsafe practices

• Participate in HACCP procedures and bio-security programs

• Ensure all work is done to meet hygiene and operational standards

 Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Hands-on mechanical aptitude

• General maintenance and minor electrical work

• Basic understanding of factory systems and operations

• Familiarity with tools, safety protocols, and maintenance best practices
