Duferco, a leader in the steel manufacturing industry, is proud to offer a 3-year Apprenticeship Programme in collaboration with CHIETA, aimed at developing young South African talent into skilled artisans.

Position Type: Contract (Youth Development)
Duration: 36 Months (3 Years)

 About the Apprenticeship

The programme is designed to equip you with hands-on practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and on-the-job training under the supervision of qualified artisans in the Electrical, Mechanical, and Rigging disciplines.

You will sign a tri-partite apprenticeship agreement between yourself, Duferco, and CHIETA.

 Minimum Requirements For The DSP Youth Apprenticeship Programme 2025

• Grade 12 (Matric) or Equivalent Qualification (Recognised by SAQA)

  • Mathematics and Physical Science are compulsory

• NTC (National Technical Certificate) or NCV (National Certificate Vocational) in a technical field (advantageous)

• Previous exposure to an engineering or manufacturing environment (advantageous)

• Good mechanical aptitude and practical hand skills

• Must be willing to commit to a full 3-year apprenticeship programme

• South African Citizen, aged between 18–35

• No prior full-time apprenticeship completed

 Key Responsibilities

• Assist and support qualified artisans in daily duties

• Perform basic technical tasks in electrical, mechanical, or rigging operations

• Participate in all training activities, both theoretical and practical

• Commit to scheduled learning modules and workplace rotations

• Demonstrate high attention to safety, quality, and teamwork
