Job Purpose
RAINBOW, one of South Africa’s leading poultry and food manufacturing companies, is on the lookout for a highly skilled and qualified Electrician to join our production team in Worcester. This role requires a hands-on electricianwith a proven background in FMCG maintenance, fault-finding on production lines, and PLC systems. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that our automated equipment, packaging lines, and processing machines are running optimally at all times.

 Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
As a core member of our engineering and maintenance team, your duties will include:

Carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on production and packaging machinery

Performing electrical fault-finding, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of systems to avoid downtime
-
Working with and understanding Allen Bradley and Lenze drives for programming and repairs
-
Ensuring timely resolution of machine breakdowns on all electrical equipment
-
Performing scheduled inspections and preventative checks across the factory
-
Maintaining electrical distribution systems, control panels, motors, and PLC-controlled machinery
-
Accurately completing job cards, daily maintenance sheets (DMS), and reporting tools in SAP-PM
-
Supporting continuous improvement projects and root cause analysis
-
Following all safety procedures and OHSA regulations

Managing and requisitioning spare parts needed for maintenance activities
-
Assisting with electrical construction, upgrades, or installations on-site as required
-
Contributing to a 24/7 production support system, which includes rotational standby duties, overtime, and shift work
 Minimum Qualifications For The 1 Electrician Position at Rainbow
-
Red Seal Trade Tested Electrician (Department of Labour certification)
-
Wireman’s License – Compulsory and up to date
-
N3 Certificate or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
-
Valid South African driver’s license – preferred
 Experience & Technical Knowledge
-
3+ years post-trade test experience in electrical maintenance
-
5+ years hands-on experience in an FMCG production environment is essential
-
Comprehensive PLC experience, including troubleshooting and configuration of Allen Bradley (Level 1 minimum)
-
Proficiency in working with motor control systems, low-tension (LT) distribution, and automation
-
Understanding of electrical panels, drives, relays, and industrial electronics
-
Basic understanding of mechanical systems to support cross-functional problem-solving
-
Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume food manufacturing environment is a strong advantage
