Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Auto-Electrician to join our team in ensuring the optimal functioning of critical mobile equipment in our mining operations. In this role, you will carry out inspections, diagnostics, installations, and repairs across the mine site, supporting production by minimizing downtime through preventative maintenance and quick resolution of electrical faults.


 Key Responsibilities

 Operational Auto-Electrical Maintenance

  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on heavy-duty mining machinery and equipment.

  • Install, test, and maintain auto-electrical components and wiring systems.

  • Conduct preventative inspections and create accurate job cards and maintenance logs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical faults on Earth Moving Equipment (EME).

  • Support asset care and long-term equipment reliability planning.

 Compliance, Risk & Safety

  • Adhere to safety procedures, codes of practice, and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct risk assessments, report hazards, and ensure a safe working environment.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental and safety legislation.

  • Participate in safety inspections and toolbox talks.


 Minimum Requirements

 Qualifications:

  • Matric / Grade 12 (NQF 4)

  • N2 Certificate in Auto-Electrical Engineering

  • Engineering Trade Certificate (Auto-Electrical or Millwright – NQF 5)

  • MV Certificate (Medium Voltage)

  • Cable Jointing Certificate

  • Auto-Electrical Protection Certificate

 Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Auto-Electrical maintenance within a mining/industrial environment

  • At least 2 years post-apprenticeship experience

 Other:

  • Must be medically fit and able to work in a physically demanding environment

  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and in high-risk zones


 Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of EME auto-electrical systems and diagnostic tools

  • Highly safety-conscious and committed to OHS standards

  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proactive and meticulous record-keeper
