About the Opportunity

Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine, a world-class producer of chrome ore located in Limpopo, is offering an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Artisan (TMM Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic) to join our values-driven team.  Minimum Educational Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Standard 10 with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy (Essential)

  • Recognised Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical/Diesel/Auto-Electrical (Essential)

  • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence (Essential)

  • Valid TMM Licence “A” Dover (Essential)

  • N2 Certificate in relevant trade (Advantageous)


 Experience Requirements For The Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine Artisan Fitter

  • Minimum 2 years’ trade-specific experience in a mining, plant, or TMM/heavy industrial environment

  • 1 year earthmoving equipment practical experience will be advantageous

  • Familiarity with mine safety standards, breakdown protocols, and preventative maintenance routines


 Key Duties & Responsibilities

As an Artisan, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting maintenance and mechanical repairs on the production fleet of Trackless Mobile Machines (TMM)

  • Ensuring all equipment meets operational and safety compliance per the mine’s Code of Practice

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment

  • Preparing and scheduling job tasks, including spares, tools, and resources

  • Managing maintenance schedules and breakdowns efficiently according to site protocols

  • Obtaining required permits, safe declarations, and lockout/tagout clearance before starting work

  • Executing maintenance tasks against issued work orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion

  • Providing feedback on all work conducted and returning job cards for supervisor sign-off

  • Performing daily inspections (scheduled and ad hoc), recording condition reports and corrective actions

  • Planning and risk assessing jobs to reduce downtime and improve safety


 Skills and Competencies

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding ability

  • Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and diesel engine systems

  • Knowledge of mine safety procedures and mini risk assessments (MRAs)

  • Strong planning, organising, and documentation skills

  • Team player with excellent time management

  • High level of safety consciousness and attention to detail
