Minimum Requirements For The Gold 1 Electrical Assistant Vacancy

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Grade 11 or equivalent qualification (Grade 12 advantageous)

• Studying towards or enrolled in Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage

• 1–2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering in a mining or industrial setting is essential

• South African Citizenship required

• Clear criminal record

• Must be proficient in English and one additional official South African language

• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces

• Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills

• Studying towards a formal Electrical Trade is highly beneficial

Key Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineering Assistant, your role will include:

• Working on a cycle or rotation of shifts

• Supporting artisans by carrying toolboxes, hand tools, and materials

• Maintaining tools and keeping hand tools safe and organized

• Disassembling and reassembling electrical components and equipment using hand tools

• Threading conduit ends, connecting couplings, and fabricating support brackets

• Inspecting electrical units for loose connections, damage, and making repairs

• Maintaining your work area in accordance with mine standards and safety protocols

• Adhering to the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and company safety motto:
  “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”
