 Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Maintenance Assistant to support ongoing maintenance and repair operations at our APB & DFC Campuses. The successful candidate will perform a range of electrical and general maintenance tasks under supervision, contributing to a safe and fully functional learning environment.
Note: Additional duties may be assigned as required by management.
 Key Responsibilities For The UJ X2 General Electrical AssistantsÂ

Respond to and action electrical maintenance call-outs across campus buildings and facilities.

Inspect reported faults and determine appropriate methods to install, test, repair, or modify electrical systems.

Perform in-house repairs to meet turnaround targets; assist in monitoring contractors for outsourced work.

Communicate repair updates, timeframes, and any ongoing issues to the Supervisor: Electrical.

Coordinate necessary permits (e.g., hot works permits, service shutdowns) in collaboration with users and safety departments.

Monitor, repair, and maintain all electrical infrastructure and systems.

Ensure maintenance activities are signed off and recorded in accordance with SOPs.

Maintain accurate logs of all electrical repair work.

Monitor inventory of electrical materials, tools, and equipment.

Support artisans with daily technical tasks and assist in workshop upkeep.

Follow procedural instructions and promptly report defects or safety concerns to supervisors.

Operate hoists, cranes, and other machinery as required.

Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the workshop.
 Minimum Requirements

Education: Grade 10 or NQF Level 2

Experience: Minimum of 1 year job-related experience

Knowledge: Understanding of institutional policies, rules, and electrical systems

Basic knowledge and experience in electrical repair and maintenance
