Applicants are invited to apply for the Impala Platinum Winder Electrician

Purpose of the Job:
To safely install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and machinery, specifically focusing on surface HT and winding systems.


Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Standard 10 (NQF Level 4) – Essential

  • Recognised Trade Qualification (Section 13/26D) OR proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract – Essential

  • NTC 2 (Trade Theory with relevant specialised courses) – Essential

  • Appointment as a Winder Electrician under DMRE – Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Winder Electrical Artisan – Essential

  • In-depth knowledge of surface high tension (HT) systems and winders – Essential

  • Understanding of ECAM Digicom and PLC modules – Essential

  • Valid medical certificate, or medically fit to obtain such – Essential


Key Competencies For The Impala Platinum Winder Electrician

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and associated symbols

  • Strong computer literacy with a solid understanding of PLC functionality

  • Good understanding of electrical drive fundamentals

  • Skilled in conducting detailed inspections on shaft signalling systems and winders

  • Proficient in fault finding and repairs on winders and elevators

  • Ability to write clear, accurate technical reports

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

  • Ability to provide on-the-job coaching and technical support


Key Performance Areas:

  • Respond to electrical breakdowns and conduct effective fault finding

  • Install and commission electrical measuring instruments and control devices

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on winders and shaft signalling systems

  • Inspect and maintain electrical main substations

  • Repair and maintain electrical conveyor safety systems and power tools

  • Ensure compliance with planned electrical maintenance schedules

  • Maintain documentation and produce technical reports

  • Provide mentorship and training to junior staff or apprentices

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards
