 Purpose of the Role

The Engineering Assistant will provide multi-disciplinary technical support across various engineering departments. This role focuses on assisting qualified Engineering Artisans with routine maintenance, repairs, and operational efficiency tasks. The position involves low-complexity, high-volume work that is essential to the mine’s day-to-day technical operations.

 Key Responsibilities For The Engineering Assistant Job Opportunity

• Provide assistance in critical operational areas as directed

• Monitor and respond to changing environmental and working conditions

• Assist in preventative maintenance and basic repair of mining equipment and machinery

• Support the refurbishment of used parts, tools, and components

• Adhere to strict compliance and quality standards (Zero Tolerance policy)

• Perform general housekeeping and maintain a safe working environment

• Assist with loading, dispatching, and transporting material and equipment to job sites

• Ensure proper inventory control of engineering tools and spare parts

• Promote operational efficiency within the engineering department

 Minimum Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science

• Engineering Assistant Phase 2 Training Certificate (mandatory)

 Skills, Experience & Competencies

• At least 6 months’ experience in an engineering support or similar technical role

• Semi-skilled engineering background with relevant technical certificates (advantageous)

• Good communication skills (verbal and written) in English

• Familiarity with safety standards, basic tools, and engineering support functions

• Physically fit, hands-on, and proactive
