About the Role

Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) is looking for 2 qualified Boilermakers to join our Maintenance Department. As an Artisan: Boilermaker, you will be responsible for executing scheduled maintenance, inspections, and fabrication tasks across our heavy metal and mining operation.

You will report directly to the Controller: Maintenance and be a key player in ensuring asset reliability and plant safety.

Key Responsibilities For The Rio Tinto 2 Artisan Boilermaker

• Execute planned and unplanned maintenance tasks and repairs.

• Monitor and inspect plant equipment and structures, responding to defects.

• Perform condition monitoring, breakdown assessments, and repairs.

• Fabricate and assemble engineering components using technical drawings.

• Take ownership of breakdowns and corrective actions.

• Assist in the training and upskilling of apprentices and junior artisans.

• Adhere to and promote safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards.

• Complete all tasks as directed by supervisors in line with operational requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics & Physical Science or N3 Mechanical Certificate

• Qualified Artisan – Boilermaker Trade Certificate

• Minimum 3 years of experience in mining or heavy metal fabrication

• Proficient in reading engineering drawings

• Multi-skilled in fitting and mechanical repair

• Valid South African driver’s license
