About the Opportunity

Komatsu South Africa is offering a 2-year Graduate Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Programme for recent Mechanical Engineering graduates. Based at our Wadeville facility in Germiston, this structured programme provides hands-on industry experience, technical exposure, and real-time project work within a supportive and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities For The Komatsu X2 Engineer In Training 

• Assist Mechanical Engineers in the design, testing, and maintenance of heavy machinery and equipment.

• Contribute to engineering projects, from concept to implementation.

• Participate in continuous improvement processes, using data-driven and analytical methods.

• Support cross-functional teams with technical input and engineering problem-solving.

• Apply engineering principles to enhance product reliability, performance, and safety.

• Gain in-depth understanding of Komatsu technologies and operational systems.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering (completed)

• South African citizen or valid work permit

• Willingness to commit to a 24-month contract

• Strong interest in mining, construction equipment, and mechanical systems

Preferred Attributes

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking

• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced technical environment
