Minimum Requirements For The Unitrans Artisan Electrician Position

Qualified Auto Electrician (trade test certificate essential).

3+ years of experience in automotive electrical maintenance and repair.

Experience working with Volvo vehicles will be highly advantageous.

Willingness to work shifts and be available for call-outs.

Computer literate with basic technical reporting skills.

Must have own reliable transport.

EC Driver’s Licence would be an advantage.

Ability to work under pressure without direct supervision.

Must be hands-on, practical, and solution-oriented.

Willingness to undergo further training relevant to the position.

Must have a clean record and be medically fit for duty.
Duties & Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems in vehicles, including buses and automobiles.

Use specialized tools such as power tools, stripping tools, and voltage/current meters to test and repair electrical systems.

Install, service, and repair vehicle electrical components such as headlights, GPS systems, radios, and other electronic systems.

Conduct troubleshooting to identify faults, order necessary parts, and carry out repairs on complex mechanical and electrical issues.

Perform advanced repairs and maintenance on buses, trucks, and automobiles.

Provide technical leadership by directing and training junior mechanics when required.

Ensure compliance with all organizational, environmental, and safety regulations.

Serve as a technical resource for resolving electrical and mechanical challenges.
