We are hiring! An exciting opportunity exists for a Junior Electrical Technician to join our Electrical Department. The ideal candidate is skilled, passionate about electrical engineering, and eager to grow in a heavy industry environment.
 Key Responsibilities For The Sappi Junior Electrical Technician
As a Junior Electrical Technician, you will:

Maintain, calibrate, and optimise plant electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment (hardware and software).

Troubleshoot complex plant issues beyond artisan and foreman expertise to minimise downtime using specialised tools and techniques.

Perform fault finding and repairs up to card level, investigate causes, and recommend cost-effective solutions.

Plan and execute preventative and improvement tasks with maintenance teams and contractors.

Inspect and commission plant modifications, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and documentation updates.

Research and implement plant improvements, staying updated with technological advancements.

Provide training and guidance to staff on electrical systems and equipment.

Submit accurate technical documentation, reports, scopes of work, and training materials for technicians, engineers, artisans, and foremen.

Uphold strict safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards and perform standby duties as required.
 Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have:

2 years of experience in a heavy industry environment OR successful completion of a TIT/EIT programme(minimum 2 years).

National Diploma (NQF 6) or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.

Knowledge of SAP will be advantageous.
