Sappi is offering an exciting opportunity to start a long-term career in the engineering field through our Apprentice Training Programme. This programme is designed for dynamic, ambitious, and self-motivated individuals who have a strong technical ability and a passion for hands-on problem solving.
Over a period of approximately four years, apprentices will receive a combination of structured institutional learning and practical workplace experience. The programme is aimed at developing well-rounded, qualified artisans who will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and technical expertise to contribute meaningfully within the engineering environment.
What You Can Expect from the Programme
As an apprentice at Sappi, you will:

Receive accredited training that covers all the required modules to qualify as an artisan.

Gain workplace experiential learning under the supervision of highly skilled foremen and qualified artisans.

Be exposed to real-world engineering environments, including troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and process optimisation.

Be supported with trade test preparation and guidance, culminating in the official trade test examination required to become a certified artisan.
Minimum Entry Requirements For The Sappi 2025 Apprentice Boilermaker
To be considered for this programme, applicants must have:

A National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Sciences, OR

A Full N3 Certificate with passes in both Mathematics and Engineering Science.
