Job Introduction
An exciting opportunity exists for an Engineering Assistant at our Sedibeng operation in Postmasburg, Northern Cape. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain practical experience in the mining and engineering industry, working under the guidance of qualified Artisans and Engineering Supervisors.
The successful candidate will assist with maintenance, repairs, installations, and housekeeping duties, while ensuring adherence to workplace safety standards.
Minimum Qualification Requirements

Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification

Relevant NATED courses (e.g., N3 Certificate) preferred
Experience and Skills Requirements For The Engineering Assistant – Mining Industry

1 year experience in the mining industry (preferred)

Proficiency in the English language (verbal and written)
-
Strong knowledge of workplace safety standards and procedures
-
Familiarity with risk assessments and safe work practices
-
Good time management skills and ability to follow instructions
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As an Engineering Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Supporting Artisans in lifting, holding, and positioning parts and materials

Assisting with dismantling and re-assembling components as instructed
-
Loading and offloading materials and parts onto/from transport vehicles
-
Moving and carrying materials between storage and work areas
-
Assisting with installations, breakdowns, and maintenance tasks under supervision
-
Performing general housekeeping duties in the work area

Acting as an observer when instructed (e.g., fire watch during conveyor maintenance, leak checks on pipelines)
