Genkem has an exciting Artisan Apprentice opportunity in our Maintenance Department based in Johannesburg. We are looking for skilled and motivated individuals with mechanical or electrical engineering knowledge to join our team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Maintenance Team Lead and gain valuable technical and workplace experience in a leading industrial environment.
Minimum Requirements For The Genkem Artisan Apprentice Opportunity
To be considered for the Artisan Apprentice Programme at Genkem, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Matric / Grade 12

N3 – N6 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Clear Criminal Record
-
3 years relevant experience (mechanical or electrical)

Trade Test (advantageous but not essential)

Strong communication skills
-
Excellent attention to detail
Key Responsibilities
As a Genkem Artisan Apprentice, you will:

Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to assemble mechanical components.

Use hand and power tools effectively to fabricate and fit components.

Conduct inspections and tests on machinery to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement corrective actions.

Collaborate with production teams to optimise processes and improve efficiency.

Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
