Purpose of the Role
To operate basic mechanical and electro-mechanical machinery while executing routine maintenance tasks under strict operational guidelines — ensuring performance targets, safety compliance, and operational efficiency are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities For The Sasol Artisan Mechanical Fitter x2

Operate and maintain plant/mine equipment and systems within defined performance standards.

Use and understand the plant maintenance documentation and work planning systems.

Apply safety standards and ensure compliance with IMS, MBO, and relevant legislation.

Conduct hazard identification and task risk assessments before executing work.

Attend daily shift meetings and provide progress updates to supervisors.

Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and promote plant safety and reliability improvements.

Maintain high standards of housekeeping and follow waste management procedures.

Mentor and share knowledge with junior artisans and learners.
-
Contribute to the development of work instructions to improve team competency.

Support team objectives, take initiative, and act as a group leader when required.

Capture accurate maintenance history to support spares planning and future upgrades.

Engage in quarterly performance reviews and personal development planning.
Qualifications

Occupational Trade Qualification / Certificate (relevant to the discipline)
Experience

Minimum 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience
