We are seeking an experienced and skilled Electrical Technician to handle installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment across our plant. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in 3-phase power systems, AC motors, instrumentation, fault diagnosis, and preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Installations & General Work

Install new power supplies and AC 3-phase motors
-
Issue Certificates of Compliance (COC) for electrical installations

Inspect and report faulty appliances or damaged equipment as per job cards
-
Ensure full compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards
Maintenance & Repairs
-
Perform breakdown maintenance on electrical equipment
-
Conduct preventative maintenance and workshop housekeeping
-
Test and commission new electrical projects
-
Maintain electrical lighting across the plant
Testing & Troubleshooting
-
Diagnose and repair faults on processing equipment, instrumentation, and HMI
-
Perform electrical testing using hand tools and test equipment
-
Complete monthly inspections, job card closures, and admin-related tasks
-
Respond immediately to breakdowns and participate in standby duties when required
Minimum Requirements For The AECI Artisan Electrician

Matric / Grade 12
-
Valid Wireman’s License (Electrical COC) — essential
-
Completed Electrical Apprenticeship
-
3–5 years’ experience in a production / plant / workshop / maintenance environment

Advantageous: MV/HV certification, Instrumentation experience, SHEQ knowledge

Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills

Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

Valid driver’s license & own reliable transport
Ideal Candidate Profile

Strong understanding of electrical equipment operation

Experience mentoring or leading apprentices

Hands-on with electrical tools, measuring instruments, and testing devices

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
-
Medically fit to drive and able to work overtime or standby when required
