Key Responsibilities For Fund Accountant Job Opportunity – Apply Now

Fund Accounting and Portfolio Valuations

• Prepare, review, and oversee accurate Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
• Ensure all portfolio valuations are completed in line with accounting standards and client requirements
• Work closely with the Team Leader to plan, coordinate, and deliver NAV processes within strict deadlines
• Monitor financial data and ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness across all portfolios

Financial and Regulatory Reporting

• Prepare detailed management accounts and investor reports
• Compile annual statutory financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, and listing requirements across multiple jurisdictions
• Assist with the preparation of Investor Periodic Disclosures (IPDs) and other client-specific reporting

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

• Liaise with fund managers, brokers, custodians, and other stakeholders to obtain required information and resolve queries
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality financial reporting
• Ensure all client deliverables are met in accordance with agreed timelines and service level agreements

Team Leadership and Development

• Assist in mentoring, training, and developing junior and trainee fund accountants
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members to ensure consistent performance
• Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team environment focused on continuous improvement

Audit and Compliance

• Support internal and external audit processes by providing accurate documentation and responding to audit queries
• Ensure full compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements
• Identify risks and recommend improvements to strengthen financial controls and processes

Operational Support and Process Improvement

• Participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Support system upgrades, automation projects, and operational enhancements
• Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the growth and development of the division

Requirements

Qualifications

• Relevant Commerce Degree with strong academic performance, including:
  • Financial Accounting
  • Taxation
  • Auditing or Internal Auditing
  • Corporate Law or Commercial Law
  • Management Accounting
• Professional qualification such as SAIPA, CIMA, or AG(SA) completed or in progress

Experience

• Previous experience in fund accounting or a similar finance role is advantageous
• Exposure to investment structures such as Private Debt, Capital Markets, Real Assets, or Private Equity is highly beneficial
• Experience working in a corporate, financial services, or shared services environment is preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
