Job Overview For Casual General Worker – Warehouse & Production Support

An opportunity is available for Casual General Workers to support operations across warehouse, production, and logistics functions. This is a flexible, on-demand role, ideal for individuals who are looking to gain experience or earn income on a temporary basis.

As a Casual General Worker, you will be called upon when operational needs arise. Your responsibilities will vary depending on daily requirements, making this role dynamic and hands-on. You will play an important part in ensuring that production processes run smoothly, stock is handled efficiently, and deliveries are completed successfully.

 Important Notice:
This is not a permanent position. There are no guaranteed hours, and work is assigned based on operational demand. Candidates must be available at short notice.

Purpose of the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to provide flexible, hands-on support across multiple operational areas, including warehouse management, production processes, and logistics.

Casual workers help the business maintain productivity during peak periods, ensuring that customer demand is met, products are handled correctly, and operational standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse and Stock Handling

• Load and unload goods, pallets, and materials safely and efficiently
• Pack, sort, and organise stock according to company procedures
• Assist with stock movement, storage, and inventory processes
• Ensure products are handled carefully to prevent damage or loss

Production Line Support

• Assist in the dog food production process, supporting various stages of manufacturing
• Provide manual labour support to ensure smooth production flow
• Follow production guidelines and safety procedures at all times
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation within production areas

Physical Labour and Handling

• Lift and carry dog food bags weighing up to 40kg
• Perform repetitive manual tasks for extended periods
• Apply correct lifting techniques to ensure safety and prevent injury

Logistics and Delivery Assistance

• Support drivers with loading and offloading deliveries
• Assist with delivery documentation and administrative tasks
• Accompany drivers on delivery routes when required
• Participate in long-distance travel as part of delivery operations

Cleaning and Housekeeping

• Maintain cleanliness of warehouse and production areas
• Perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping, tidying, and waste removal
• Ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards
• Keep workspaces organised and hazard-free

General Operational Support

• Assist with any additional tasks as required by supervisors
• Adapt to different roles depending on daily operational needs
• Support team members to ensure smooth workflow

Important Employment Conditions

• This is a casual (temporary) position, not permanent employment
• Work is assigned only when needed based on operational demand
• There are no guaranteed working hours or fixed schedule

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent (NQF Level 4)

Location

• Must be based in Gauteng, South Africa

Employment Status

• Must be currently unemployed

Experience (Advantageous but Not Required)

• Experience in warehousing, logistics, stock handling, or FMCG environments
• Previous experience in manual labour or production environments
