South Deep Gold Mine is offering a structured Engineering Learnership Programme for individuals interested in qualifying as Millwright artisans. To be considered for the South Deep Engineering Learnership Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria.
Candidates must have successfully completed Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science. In addition, applicants must hold a full N3 qualification with four subjects, including Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, a relevant trade theory subject, and Engineering Drawing for mechanical trades or Industrial Electronics.
For the Millwright trade specifically, candidates must have at least two N3 trade theory subjects in Electrical and Fitting, along with three additional relevant subjects.
Applicants must also be declared medically fit for the position and working environment. This includes passing a risk-based medical examination conducted at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre, as well as a Heat Tolerance Screening test and any additional assessments required to determine suitability for work in a mining environment.
All relevant certificates must be attached to your CV to be considered for shortlisting.
As part of the learnership programme, candidates will be required to actively participate in both technical and workplace training.
Learners will undergo structured technical training as prescribed by the Mining Qualifications Authority, as well as additional short courses required by the mine. Maintaining consistent performance throughout the programme is essential.
