Location: Bethal, Mpumalanga
Target Area: Within a 50km radius of Kriel Power Station
This programme prioritises candidates from local communities, ensuring that opportunities benefit those living closest to the company’s operations.
An apprenticeship is a structured training programme that combines classroom-based theoretical learning with hands-on practical training and real workplace experience.
By the end of the programme, candidates will be able to perform technical tasks independently, qualify for a trade test, and become certified artisans.
Duration: Minimum of 36 months
Training includes merSETA-accredited modules, practical on-site training, and continuous mentorship.
During this period, learners gain the skills and experience required to qualify for their trade test, which is essential to becoming a certified artisan.
Boilermaking involves the fabrication and assembly of metal structures, working with industrial equipment, and interpreting engineering drawings.
Welding focuses on joining metal components using various welding techniques, working with advanced tools and machinery, and ensuring structural integrity and safety.
Both trades are essential in industries such as power generation, manufacturing, construction, and mining.
This apprenticeship provides a strong career foundation. You will gain a recognised NQF Level 4 qualification, practical industry experience, exposure to real engineering environments, and skills that are in high demand both locally and internationally.
You will be required to complete all assigned theoretical and practical modules, assist with daily operational tasks under supervision, work closely with mentors and training officers, participate in on-site learning activities, follow safety procedures, and prepare for your trade test.
Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) and Physical Science
or
N2 with relevant trade subjects
Applicants must be physically and medically fit, have a clear criminal record, be 35 years of age or younger, and reside within a 50km radius of Kriel Power Station.
Candidates must also be willing to relocate to Bethal if they do not already live nearby.
No accommodation or transport will be provided. Candidates must make their own arrangements. Only local applicants will be considered.
Applicants must submit certified copies of an updated CV, Grade 12 certificate, N2 certificate and academic results (if applicable), South African ID, and proof of residence such as a municipal account or affidavit.
