A vacancy exists for a qualified Boilermaker within the Maintenance Department of the Manufacturing Business Unit located in Bellville. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Foreman and plays a key role in maintaining and repairing critical plant and foundry equipment to ensure operational efficiency and minimal downtime.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, practical experience in heavy industry, and the ability to work under pressure, especially in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Applicants must be willing to work night shifts when required and demonstrate a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret technical and mechanical drawings.

  • Perform fabrication, installation, and repair of piping systems.

  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance on foundry and mechanical equipment.

  • Support breakdown response efforts and ensure quick turnaround.

  • Adhere to workplace safety and operational procedures.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to report issues or suggestions for improvement.


Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or N3 Technical Qualification

  • Recognised Boilermaker Trade Test Certificate (essential)

Experience:

  • At least 5 years post-trade test experience as a Boilermaker.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a maintenance environment, preferably in manufacturing or foundry operations.


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Mechanically inclined with solid problem-solving skills.

  • Strong understanding of foundry processes and equipment.

  • Experience with pipe fitting and welding techniques.

  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent time management and reliability.

  • Clear disciplinary and attendance record.
