Purpose of the Role:
As an Artisan Welder, your primary responsibility will be the fabrication and repair of locomotive steel components, carbody shells, and sub-assemblies in line with technical specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards using GMAW (CO2) welding techniques.
Key Responsibilities:

Weld locomotive components as per approved Welding Procedures

Conduct self-quality inspections and ensure zero defects

Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
-
Perform gouging and defect repair as required
-
Adhere strictly to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHACT) regulations

Prepare and set up welding tools and equipment
-
Maintain clean, organized work areas following 5S principles

Support training of apprentices and semi-skilled workers
-
Identify and report secondary damage and fabrication issues

Propose quality and productivity improvements

Assist with ad-hoc production support and operational tasks
Minimum Requirements:
-
Grade 12 / N3 Certificate
-
Trade Certificate in Welding (Essential)

3–5 years of fabrication experience using GMAW (CO2) welding in a production environment

Familiarity with OSHACT and safety procedures
