Anglo American is seeking a Mining Skills Trainer to deliver structured training aligned with mining standards, safety regulations, and competency frameworks. The successful candidate will play a key role in facilitating mining skills development, supporting compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, and contributing to sustainable workforce development in line with MQA and QCTO requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced training professional who has hands-on mining experience and a passion for skills development and continuous improvement in the mining industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate skills training for B2 – D2 level employees across mining operations

  • Conduct on-the-job continuous evaluations for MDPs and UMOs

  • Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, including response to Section 54/55 directives

  • Prioritize and deliver training based on mining competency frameworks

  • Align training practices with MQA and QCTO accreditation standards

  • Integrate best practice training methodologies and adult learning principles

  • Provide progress reporting against training targets and KPIs

  • Contribute to the alignment and implementation of mining standards and procedures

  • Support incident prevention and safety culture by incorporating risk and incident learnings into training content


Minimum Qualifications:

  • NQF Level 5 OD ETDP Higher Certificate

  • Registered Assessor Certificate

  • Registered Moderator Certificate

  • Valid EB/Code 08 Driver’s License

Advantageous:

  • Diploma (NQF 6) in OD ETDP

  • Blasting Certificate and Shift Supervisor Certificate

  • Mine Overseer Certificate


Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical mining discipline, including at least 2 years in a Shift Supervisor or training role

  • At least 5 years’ experience in conventional mining production

  • Experience working with training systems and competency-based assessments


Key Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proficient in training methodologies and adult education principles

  • Strong understanding of mining-related legislation, safety systems, and risk protocols

  • Skilled in instructional design, LMS platforms, digital learning tools, and data analysis

  • Knowledge of incident investigation and safety compliance integration in training
