Job Purpose
The Artisan Auto Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of auto-electrical systems on underground Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM). The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, be safety-conscious, and thrive in an underground mining environment.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out engineering installations in line with set procedures, specifications, and safety standards.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and components of underground mining equipment.

Troubleshoot and repair faulty systems to minimize downtime and ensure high reliability.

Maintain compliance with Murray & Roberts Cementation (M&RC) and client SHEQ standards and procedures.

Participate in cost containment through effective maintenance and optimal use of resources.

Promote team safety, communication, and motivation aligned with M&RC values.

Ensure high equipment availability and mean time between failure post-repair.

Support the Engineering Foreman in maintaining operational efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4 or equivalent).

Section 26D Auto Electrician Trade Certificate or MIETTB trade qualification via a recognized institution.

Valid apprenticeship contract signed off by the employer and Department of Manpower.

Valid First Aid Certificate and Code EB driver’s license.

Medically fit to work underground, including HTS and RFA clearance.

Clear criminal record.
Experience and Skills
-
5 years’ experience in underground mining operations.
-
5 years’ trade-specific experience on underground TMM equipment.
-
Proficiency in fault finding and repairs on LHDs, Dump Trucks, Drill Rigs, Roof Bolters, UVs, and Scaler Bolters (site-specific equipment).

Familiarity with AARD, Manitou, and Epiroc TMM machines.

Working knowledge of CANBUS systems is a distinct advantage.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work within procedures and safety guidelines.

Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
