- We are seeking a Senior Electrician with extensive refining experience and a proven track record to join our team in a petrochemical refinery. This role is available due to the retirement of the current incumbent.
Key Responsibilities For The Astron Energy Electrician Job Opportunity
Electrical Equipment Maintenance: Conduct repairs and maintenance on electrical systems, including motors, switchgear, and power distribution systems within the refinery.
Electrical Safety Compliance: Actively promote and ensure adherence to the Refinery Environment, Health, and Safety initiatives, with a focus on Electrical Safe Work Practices.
Quality Control: Enforce quality management principles in the execution of electrical work, including managing third-party vendors.
Electrical Fault Diagnosis: Perform complex fault finding, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities for refinery electrical equipment.
Training & Mentorship: Mentor Electrical Apprentices during fault finding activities and assist in their development.
Requirements:
Electrical Qualification: Minimum N3 Certification + Apprenticeship with Trade Test Certificate (RED SEAL).
Experience: At least 5 years of maintenance electrical experience, preferably within a petrochemical refinery environment.
Certifications: Valid driver’s license.
Skills:
Expertise in Medium Voltage (MV) switching (up to 11kV).
Experience with UPS systems, power supply, and battery charging systems.
Knowledge of LV and MV induction motors and Actom and ABB switchgear.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Ability to independently solve problems and assess repair requirements for refinery equipment.
Additional Responsibilities:
Loss Prevention Observations (LPOs): Conduct LPOs on peer group work activities.
Incident Investigations: Investigate electrical-related incidents as part of 5-Why investigations.
Standby Duty: Perform periodic after-hours electrical standby duties (1 week duration) based on roster.
Toolbox Talks: Participate in daily LPS group discussions and Toolbox talks.
Isolations: Carry out Low Voltage (LV) & Medium Voltage (MV) isolations.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Fit to work at heights.
Availability for after-hours standby duty (7 days) with a reliable vehicle.
Strong background in petrochemical electrical maintenance.
