Key Responsibilities
Perform auto-electrical repairs and maintenance on Earthmoving Equipment both in workshops and on customer sites.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and identify root causes of failures in electrical and electronic components.
Remove, repair, and install auto-electrical components on machinery.
Update system files and download updates for electronic systems.
Install, calibrate, and test support systems on Earthmoving machines.
Maintain a professional image when representing the company on customer sites.
Respond quickly and efficiently to customer auto-electrical breakdowns.
Perform non-electrical maintenance and air-conditioning repairs on Earthmoving machines.
Create accurate customer service reports for completed tasks.
Demonstrate effective self-management and ownership of performance.
Manage administrative tasks, including labor booking, service reports, part returns, and expenses.
Ensure proper maintenance of field service vehicles and tools.
Transfer technical knowledge and expertise to colleagues.
Follow company and customer-specific safety practices.
Adhere to contamination control procedures to maintain equipment integrity.
Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies for Auto Electrician Job Opportunity
Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
Certified Auto Electrician with formal training and qualifications.
At least 5 years of post-qualification experience working on electric and electronic systems in Caterpillar machines.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities for electrical and electronic systems.
In-depth technical knowledge of Caterpillar machine systems.
Expertise in Caterpillar electrical and electronic components.
Experience in air conditioning maintenance and repairs.
Familiarity with machine-specific attachment operations.
Knowledge of ISO quality standards and procedures.
Proficient in technical report writing.
Strong computer skills, including knowledge of SIS, STW, and ET systems.
Valid Driver’s License – Code B.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Specialized technical knowledge of Caterpillar machines and components.
Strong numerical reasoning and analytical skills.
