We are seeking a highly skilled Automation and Instrumentation Technician to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced FMCG or manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving control systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and various electrical and instrumentation devices. If you are passionate about industrial automation, thrive in high-pressure situations, and possess a strong background in electrical engineering and instrumentation, this is the opportunity for you.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs):

  • Maintenance and fault finding of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMI (Human Machine Interfaces), SCADA systems, and electronic control devices.

  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of instrumentation devices such as sensors, transmitters, actuators, load cells, and control valves.

  • Programming and troubleshooting of Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCs, variable speed drives (VSDs), and automation software.

  • Implementation of preventive maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and improve system reliability.

  • Management and regular updates of automation software backups and technical documentation.

  • Calibration and setup of instrumentation equipment according to industry standards and SABS specifications.

  • Development of technical documentation and automation system specifications for ongoing and future projects.

  • Coordination with OEMs, contractors, and engineering teams to meet safety and compliance standards.

  • Involvement in control system upgrades, plant automation projects, and minor project execution.

Minimum Requirements For The AVI Instrumentation And Control Technician

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or Automation.

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in an industrial setting.

  • Proficient in SCADA/Wonderware, Siemens TIA Portal, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong grasp of electrical schematics, control circuits, and PLC logic.

  • Trade-tested Electrician or Instrument Technician will be advantageous.

  • Ability to work independently, perform standby duties, and support production-critical systems.
