Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Artisan Fitter to join our Engineering team at our dynamic Paarden Eiland site. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong mechanical aptitude, capable of working independently and efficiently under pressure. You’ll play a critical part in ensuring minimal downtime across our production lines.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs

Conduct daily inspections and monitor equipment performance.

Attend to mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic breakdowns promptly.

Execute planned and preventative maintenance activities.

Perform Root Cause Analysis on equipment failures.

Assist in reducing outsourced maintenance costs.
Planning & Execution

Follow and complete job cards and maintenance schedules during shifts and shutdowns.

Support shutdown planning and safe execution.

Coordinate with engineering and production for timely job execution.
Cost & Efficiency Control

Minimize downtime by addressing issues immediately.

Monitor resource usage (materials, time, labor) for cost-effectiveness.
Safety Compliance

Perform job-specific risk assessments.

Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Certifications
-
NQF Level 4 Fitter qualification (or equivalent).

Red Seal Fitter Certification (compulsory).
Experience
-
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment.

Proven knowledge of:

Conveyors, bagging & sealing machines, coating lines.

Pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Packaging machinery.
-
Basic electrical fault-finding.

Preferred Advantage
-
Experience with Multi-Head Weighers or Automated Bagging Equipment.

Root Cause Analysis training or exposure.

Own reliable transport (due to rotational shifts and standby requirements).
Working Conditions

Rotational shift system, including night shift and weekends as required.

Overtime and standby availability is expected.
