We are seeking a Technical Assistant to support our team of skilled technicians in the servicing and repair of heavy earthmoving equipment. Key Responsibilities and Outputs:

As a Technical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting technicians both in the workshop and on-site at customer locations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting technicians in inspecting heavy earthmoving equipment to ensure operational safety and efficiency.

  • Supporting with basic troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs under the guidance of qualified technicians.

  • Helping with the removal and installation of machine components, including engines, hydraulic parts, and electrical systems.

  • Aiding in the ordering of parts and assisting in inventory control to ensure work is completed without delays.

  • Assisting with administrative duties, including service reports, labour bookings, parts returns, and expense tracking.

  • Contributing to the preparation of detailed Machine Inspection Reports (MIR) and customer machine condition analyses.

  • Performing general workshop and site duties, including housekeeping, tool maintenance, and customer support.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 / N3 Certificate with:

    • Pure Mathematics (minimum 45%)

    • English (minimum 45%)

    • Physical Science (minimum 45%)

  • N2/N3 qualifications with relevant theory in Motor, Diesel, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering will be advantageous.

  • Technicians for the World Certificate is an added advantage.

  • Minimum Code B Learner’s Licence (light motor vehicle) preferred.

  • Strong literacy and communication skills – ability to read, write, and speak clearly.

  • Good numeracy skills and mechanical aptitude.
