Job Summary
Bidvest Tank Terminals is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Fitter to join our high-performing Maintenance Department in Durban. This role is ideal for a proactive tradesperson with strong mechanical aptitude and a background in the petrochemical or chemical processing industries. The Maintenance Fitter will be responsible for performing planned and reactive maintenance on plant equipment to ensure optimal functionality, reduce downtime, and support seamless terminal operations.
Minimum Requirements For The Bidvest Tank Terminals Maintenance Fitter

Matric Certificate

N3/N4 Mechanical Engineering Qualification

Fitter Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal Certified)

Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Mechanical Fitter

Experience in a petrochemical or chemical plant environment is highly advantageous
-
Strong knowledge of plant maintenance systems and mechanical components
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Execute and assist in implementing a planned maintenance strategy in accordance with industry standards and OEM specifications

Prioritize daily work orders and effectively manage time to maximize plant uptime and productivity

Conduct routine inspections and plant walkabouts, identifying potential issues before they escalate

Maintain mechanical equipment in excellent working condition to reduce downtime and ensure operational efficiency for import and export functions

Confirm completed maintenance tasks in SAP PM and ensure accurate documentation of all activities

Run SAP IW28 reports to proactively schedule and prepare for upcoming maintenance tasks

Plan, request, and control spare parts to minimize delays and ensure timely job completion

Troubleshoot, identify, and address recurring mechanical issues to reduce rework and equipment failure rates

Complete all work orders in a timeous and efficient manner to meet operational requirements
