What You’ll Do as an Engineering Apprentice
During your apprenticeship, you’ll gain the essential skills and experience needed to build a successful career in engineering. You’ll be part of one of our specialist teams in:
Gas Service & Repair
Heating Installation
Smart Metering (available in most areas)

Who Can Apply for the British Gas Engineering Apprenticeship
While this apprenticeship aims to encourage more female engineers, applications are open to everyone who meets the criteria!
What We’re Looking For
4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above – ideally including Maths & English
A genuine passion for learning a trade, developing a long-term career, and delivering outstanding customer service
A full UK driving license with no more than 6 points
Availability for training at our UK-wide academies (accommodation and travel provided if needed)
What’s In It for You?
Competitive apprentice starting salary between £15,435 – £17,850, with regular increases as you progress
Once fully qualified, your salary will align with that of a skilled engineer or electrician
London Weighting Allowance of £4,000 – £6,000 (depending on location) if you live or start your day within London
