Brochem, a leader in the chemical manufacturing sector, is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join its Apprenticeship Programme for Electricians at its Newcastle site. This program is designed to provide practical workplace training and theoretical exposure, equipping you with the skills required to qualify as a certified Electrician in South Africa.
Job Objective:
To provide structured on-the-job training and mentorship to develop technical competence in the electrical trade, aligned with industry standards and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Electrician Apprentice, you will be expected to:

Work closely with your assigned mentor or coach to gain essential hands-on training
-
Learn and understand the plant layout and equipment structure
-
Assist in selecting, collecting, and organizing tools, materials, and equipment for electrical jobs
-
Follow all instructions given by the mentor/electrician to support day-to-day electrical maintenance and installation tasks

Conduct minor repairs and diagnostics on electrical systems and components
-
Test equipment for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance using industry-standard testing tools
-
Assist with preventive maintenance, including troubleshooting and inspecting lighting, switch boxes, conduits, and more
-
Support in identifying electrical faults and help in replacing damaged components or wiring
-
Comply with all occupational health and safety standards and plant protocols
Minimum Requirements for the Brochem 2025 Electrical Apprentice Program
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Completed N1 – N3 or NCV Level 4 in Electrical Engineering

Subjects must include Mathematics and trade-specific technical subjects

Minimum 60% pass mark for Mathematics and technical subjects
-
Candidates who have completed Technical Matric with electrical subjects will be considered

Completion of Phase 1 – 3 Training Centre Modules will be an added advantage
-
A passion for the electrical trade and willingness to learn in a high-paced, safety-conscious industrial environment
