Job Overview:

This learnership will provide hands-on training and learning opportunities to become a fully qualified Refrigeration Mechanic Artisan. Throughout the programme, the learner will receive guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals, learning the key aspects of installing, commissioning, servicing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting refrigeration systems. Additionally, the role will involve supporting the implementation of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) protocols, in close collaboration with the Foreman, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities:
As an apprentice, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist and learn under the supervision of an experienced technician. The primary responsibilities of the position include:

Preventative Maintenance: Assist in performing preventative maintenance on various refrigeration systems, such as ammonia screw compressors, air compressors, evaporative condensers, heat exchangers, and pumps. This involves routine checks and ensuring that systems are functioning efficiently.

Troubleshooting and Repairs: Provide support in identifying faults and troubleshooting refrigeration breakdowns. Assist in the repair and replacement of defective components, ensuring minimal downtime of the refrigeration systems.

HACCP Protocols: Work alongside the Foreman to implement and drive HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) protocols to ensure that the refrigeration systems are safe and compliant with industry regulations. This responsibility will help you understand the importance of food safety and environmental compliance in refrigeration operations.

General Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by performing housekeeping duties, including cleaning equipment and tools after use and ensuring work areas are clutter-free and safe for operation.

Learning and Gaining Experience: Support the technician in their daily tasks and actively participate in training opportunities to gain practical experience. You will have the chance to develop your skills in both the technical and operational aspects of refrigeration mechanics.
Minimum Requirements:
To be eligible for this exciting learnership opportunity, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Educational Qualification: Grade 12 with Mathematics, Science, and English. These subjects are crucial as they provide a strong foundation for technical learning and understanding in the refrigeration industry.

N2 Qualification: Applicants must have completed their N2 qualification in Air Conditioning and Refrigerationwith Trade Theory. This provides a basic theoretical understanding of refrigeration systems and will be valuable in your practical training.
