As a world-class producer of Chrome Ore, our mine is located in the Limpopo Province, approximately 60 kilometers from Lydenburg and 40 kilometers from Burgersfort.

Job Title: Electrician

Location: Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine, Limpopo Province, South Africa

Department: Engineering

Reporting To: Chargehand or Nominee

Job Type: Full-Time

Minimum Educational Requirements:

To qualify for the Electrician position at Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine, applicants must meet the following educational criteria:

 

Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.

Relevant Trade Test Certificate (Electrician).

Valid Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.

TMM Licences “A” Dover (Trackless Mobile Machinery).

Advantageous Qualifications:

N2 Certificate with relevant trade theory.

Certificate of Compliance (CoC) for Electrical Installations.

Experience Requirements:

Candidates must have 2 to 3 years of practical experience in a heavy industrial, mining, or plant environment, specifically in electrical maintenance and plant operations. Experience with trackless mining equipment (TMM) is a strong advantage.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine Job Opportunity – Electrician Position

As an Electrician at Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine, your primary duties will include:

 

1. Electrical Maintenance and Repairs:

Perform routine maintenance, breakdown repairs, and project work on all mine assets and electrical equipment.

Ensure all electrical equipment complies with the mine’s codes of practice, health and safety standards, and operational procedures.

Carry out OEM-recommended maintenance services and ensure compliance with manufacturer standards.

2. Workshop and Equipment Management:

Maintain workshop cleanliness and ensure proper functioning of tools and equipment.

Schedule workloads, organize tools, and manage resources according to the maintenance and breakdown schedule.

Obtain and manage necessary permits and safe work declarations.

3. Compliance with Safety Procedures:

Conduct daily inspections and record findings on work orders.

Perform mini risk assessments (HIRA) and adhere to lock-out procedures.

Ensure all work permits are obtained and properly managed.

4. Asset Care and Equipment Maintenance:

Perform proactive asset care activities, including equipment inspections and scheduled maintenance.

Identify potential defects and report them to prevent breakdowns and production delays.

Collect, utilize, and manage spare parts to minimize downtime.

5. Breakdown Response and Reporting:

Respond immediately to equipment breakdowns, restore functionality, and report the incident to the Chargehand/Foreman.

Escalate unrepairable equipment issues to supervisors.

Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance activities.

6. Teamwork and Communication:

Foster a collaborative working environment with other team members.

Communicate effectively with foremen, artisans, and the control room to ensure smooth operations.

Participate in team meetings, safety briefings, and shift handovers.
