South Deep Gold Mine, a world-class operation owned by Gold Fields, is inviting dedicated and ambitious individuals from its Host Communities to apply for the Electrician Learnership Programme for 2025. This structured skills development opportunity is aimed at equipping learners with both theoretical and practical training to become qualified artisans in the mining and engineering sector.

 Who Can Apply?

To qualify, you must be a resident of one of the Host Communities listed below:

 Bekkersdaal, Zuurberkom, Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein, or Jachtfontein.

You must also meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science

• Hold a full N3 qualification with 4 relevant subjects:

  • Engineering Mathematics

  • Engineering Science

  • Electrical Trade Theory

  • Industrial Electronics

• Be declared medically fit by the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening Test

 About the Learnership

This Electrician Engineering Learnership combines on-the-job experience and external training, guided by the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) and mine-specific requirements. The goal is to develop competent, safety-conscious electrical artisans who are ready to take on the demands of the mining industry.
