Job Description:
Eskort, South Africa’s leading pork manufacturer, is currently looking for a Fitter and Turner for our Estcourt branch in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating machinery components to ensure optimal performance at our processing plant. Key Responsibilities for the 

Fabrication and Assembly:

• Construct, assemble, and fit components for machinery, vehicles, and installations.

• Operate machinery, including lathes, mills, and welding equipment, to fabricate and shape metal parts.

• Work from technical specifications and blueprints to determine appropriate materials and operations.

• Manufacture replacement parts based on samples and specifications.

Maintenance and Repair:

• Perform regular maintenance on machinery, diagnosing and repairing faults to ensure equipment runs at optimal performance.

• Identify issues with machinery and equipment and implement solutions to keep operations running smoothly.

• Install new plant and equipment when necessary.

Welding and Fabrication:

• Weld, cut, and grind various materials according to specifications.

• Ensure machinery and equipment meet legislative requirements for safety and compliance.

Supervision and On-site Work:

• Supervise maintenance teams on-site, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

• Erect machinery and equipment on-site when needed.

• Fill in for shift artisans as required, ensuring continued operations across shifts.

Key Requirements for the Eskort Artisan Fitter and Turner Vacancy

Qualifications:

• Trade Tested Fitter and Turner (essential).

• Valid Fitter and Turner trade certificate.

Experience:

• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Fitter and Turner, ideally within the manufacturing or industrial sector.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Proficiency in welding and brazing techniques.

• Strong technical knowledge of machinery maintenance and operations.

• Familiarity with tools and equipment commonly used in maintenance and fabrication.

• Ability to analyze faults, determine the root cause, and resolve issues efficiently.

• Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints to assist with repairs and fabrication.

• Skilled in assembling metal components and machining parts with precision.

• Solid understanding of safety protocols in machinery and maintenance operations.
