Minimum Qualifications & Education Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Grade 12 (Standard 10) certificate with a minimum of 40% in English and Mathematics.
Additional technical training or certifications in plant operations, chemical handling, or safety compliance will be an advantage.
Required Skills & Competencies for the Exxarro Plant Operator Learnership
Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills in English.
Self-motivated, confident, and team-oriented with excellent interpersonal abilities.
Reliable, proactive, and accountable, with a strong work ethic.
Willingness to work shifts (day/night) or be on standby as per the operational roster.
Own reliable transport is required due to shift work demands.
Clear criminal record to ensure compliance with workplace security policies.
Key Responsibilities & Job Duties
As a Plant Operations Controller, your main duties will include:
Monitoring and controlling field operations within the plant and tank farm.
Recording plant conditions and promptly reporting any abnormalities or faulty equipment.
Analyzing plant and product samples, assisting in chemical and product batch preparations.
Preparing work clearance permits and overseeing contractor activities.
Inspecting and filling road tankers or ISO-tanks in compliance with safety standards.
Maintaining strong working relationships with Evonik Peroxide Africa personnel and other stakeholders.
Acting as a Panel Operator when required to support plant operations.
Ensuring proper housekeeping and adherence to safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Responsible Care standards for quality, safety, and environmental management.
