About the Apprenticeship

As an Electrician Apprentice, you will receive comprehensive training, both theoretical and practical, while working alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic production environment. You’ll gain real-world experience working with advanced electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable speed drives (VSDs), and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) commonly used in modern industrial settings.


Key Learning Areas

During the program, you will:

  • Assist with electrical, electronic, and mechanical repairs

  • Support electrical installations and upgrades

  • Learn to work with PLCs, VSDs, HMIs, and industrial automation systems

  • Conduct motor testing, control and power circuit checks

  • Interpret and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering codes

  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, switchgear, lighting, and conduits

  • Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, standards, and procedures

  • Participate in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of electrical faults

  • Install and test electrical panels, circuits, and protective devices

  • Learn about safety hazard prevention and compliance with OHSA regulations

Minimum Requirements

  • N2 or N3 technical certificate

  • Relevant Grade 12 level subjects including:
